hey stat,Great movie - Becket. Too bad Orson Welles had such a small part. If you liked Becket - watch A Man For All Seasons. ----
I agree. It's time for an upgreydd. r ------------------ He's read books, you know, it's amazing. He's drunk and wenched his way through London but he's thinking all the time. Henry II - (Becket, 1964) [This message has been edited by rnelson (edited 12-21-2007).] IP: Logged |

Ray, I have been jockeying for a time to watch "Man for all Seasons" for a while. We have been dieting on G rated family fare for several weeks, and it's time for a grown-up movie. I will say however, that "Winnie the Pooh's Christmas Movie" was thought- provoking, and quite existential. It didn't have quite the depth and social commentary of say, "Rudolph's Shiney New Year." sighp.s. Has anyone except Ray and I seen "Idiocracy" yet on DVD? ------------------ "Yours is a voice I need to hear but PLEASE not too loud and not too often." Idiocracy is funny, funny, movie. But, be warned - it is a bit rude. A Man For All Seasons is, IMHO, one of the five greatest movies of all time. Robert Bolt, I believe also had a hand IN Dr.Zivago, Lawrence of Arabia, and The Mission - some of the same crowd that made Bridge over the River Kwai and A Passage to India. r

If we had an updated forum (ehem, Ralph), we could have a section of off topic posts for just such discussions. sighIP: Logged |

Well, if there is any doubt as to the logistics of how to mount weapons on a motorcycle, i have provided a link to the obscure 1982 movie, Megaforce. Faring-mounted rockets and machine guns that ARE LAUNCHED WHILE THE BIKE IS POPPING A WHEELY (in the coolest scenes).I hope this link finally puts this 2 year old debate to rest.I believe that was Barry Bostwick of tv's "Spin City" playing the aptly named head-banded "Ace Hunter." I shoulda named one of my sons "Ace."I am more interested in how they got enough lift from those 12" winglets in order for the bikes to fly. I am assuming they were guided by thrust vectoring rocketry but there could have been some small ailerons ----regardless, it kinda looks like they were powered by hobby rocket engines of the $3.00 variety. Nonetheless, Megaforce was one of the finest pieces of high art film making since Beastmaster II. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqCb_9ubQ1U [This message has been edited by stat (edited 12-22-2007).] IP: Logged |

Here is a clip from Idiocracy via my new favorite site, you tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoZ1-xPbNHg The star is Joe, who is transported 500 yrs into the future-----a future where the Jerry Springer types have breeded all of the inteligent people out of existance by virtue of their numbers. Their language has devolved to red-neck, valley girl, hip-hop-ese, and Joe who was of average intelligence---upon arriving into the future via hybernation experiment, he is recognized as being the most intelligent person on Earth. This is the scene where the US President's staff are introduced to Joe. ------------------ "Yours is a voice I need to hear but PLEASE not too loud and not too often." Hey Stat,I installed a new board a month ago, but after talking with Raymond decided to wait for the newest stable version which has more features, especially security features to help us keep things private. I just took a peek and it looks like that stable release is now ready. So i guess things are back in my court. I won't lie to you, I've been working my ass off lately and the board upgrade has taken a backseat, but I'll look forward to getting it off the ground in the new year. so have a Merry Christmas everyone. I really do appreciate you...except for Ted of course ------------------ Ralph Hilliard PolygraphPlace Owner & Operator Be sure to visit our new store for all things Polygraph Related http://store.polygraphplace.com IP: Logged |
